I’m Bob Underwood and welcome to our online letter. At least that’s what I call it since ‘blog’ hasn’t worked its way into the way folks talk around here. And besides, it sounds too much like ‘bog,’ and that’s where I used to get my tractor stuck.
Have to pinch myself after spending a lifetime in the fruit growing business here on the Old Mission Peninsula in northwest Michigan, and this summer celebrating a 70th birthday and 50th wedding anniversary.
And now—-I’m blogging of all things….
We’re partners with Steve deTar in FruitFast. And you’ll see more about that in the weeks to come.
Thirty years ago when we operated the Underwood Farm Market, we sold a fair amount of cherry juice concentrate. After we sold the farm, one thing kind of led to another, and before long we figured out a way to put the whole fruit (skins and all) in a softgel capsule form. Matter of fact, we were the first to do this with cherries—-capture the power of whole fruit.
All of this stemmed from our days in the orchard business. That’s when long time customers would buy cherries and tell us that they just made them feel better. Now scientists are finding out the reasons for this.
We’d also like to hear from you.
